About WMIYC

by Dean Runk

The West Michigan Ice Yacht Club has a long history of iceboating in Western Michigan.  We encourage all those with ice boats or who feel they may enjoy and want to experience the true exhilaration of ice boating to join our club. We try to send out weekly emails on ice conditions around the area as they change during the season.  We also mail out a newsletter twice per year, once at the beginning of the sailing season and another at the end of the season.

If you are at all interested join us on the ice or at one of our regularly scheduled meetngs at the Muskegon Yacht Club.  To be added to our email listing, complete an application today and submit it along with your $10.00 annual dues.

We strongly encourage you to join in on the fun and join a great group of guys and gals who share a great winter sport!

  1. Hello, I have recently inherited two ice boats from a relative. I don’t really have need of either and would like to sell them off. However my knowledge of the equipment is very limited and I’m not quite sure exactly what I have in my possession.

As best I can tell, I have a 1950’s or 60’s era Palmer Skeeter (17.5′ in length), and a 12’DN.

It also appears that I have 3 sails for the DN…and no sail for the Skeeter.

Both boats have been garaged, and are currently garaged near Gun Lake (Wayland).

I have pictures of the equipment, and would be glad to send them along.

Would you happen to have any members in the Gun Lake area (Wayland/ Shelbyville) that might be interesed in having a look to helpe ascertain exactly what I have to offer?
