Houghton Lake a NO GO as of Sat. Dec. 8, 2018

The ice checkers found their trip to Houghton Lake Friday a success. They know what the conditions are and what has to happen for the lake to become safe and sailable and fun.

But, they could not sail. One ice checker had his plank torn off in a hole. So when it started to snow a white-out, they packed up and went home.

But they will return.

The club and our sport need more ice checkers too! It is a group activity for two reasons:

Safety of the checkers is primary. And if the ice is safe and fun, you have companions with whom to sail!
